Company History

In the 1960's, Phil's Topsoil, Inc. was started as a small topsoil business that not only offered pulverized topsoil but also specialty material blends such as the ball mix which is used for infield sports surfaces. In 2003, partners Tom Schilling and Dave Kallem purchased Phil's Topsoil, Inc. from its founder and immediately incorporated the business with the intent of expanding its operations. With both partners, Tom and Dave, having extensive experience in the construction industry and a proven solid working relationship in two other business ventures, it only made sense to add a material production and supply company to their portfolio. Another factor for success with them is that they also own a trucking company which supports the material production company and insures that they can service their clients within a very short time frame from the time the order is placed to the actual time the product is delivered. Since this purchase, they have accomplished what they set out to do by expanding the business, securing prime material production locations that not only have a sizable material base which will last for years, but also convenient for pick up and delivery orders. The two are continuously looking for ways to challenge themselves and to keep the companies moving forward.
